Progress on the launch of Epilepsy South Africa Eastern Cape.

Epilepsy South Africa has procured office space in East London in the suburb of Quigney!  Together with this new office, the first Annual General Meeting on 14 March 2013 marked the launch of Epilepsy South Africa Eastern Cape . The AGM elected the new Branch Board and adopted a constitution for the Branch.

The organisation is grateful for the support and generous contributions of the Eastern Cape Development Centre (ECDC), Shoprite Holdings (Pty) Ltd and the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) towards arrangements for the AGM.  With limited space in the new office, the ECDC  sponsored the venue for the AGM.  PRASA  agreed to sponsor the transport of six members of the Motherwell Support Group (the first one established in the Eastern Cape) to and from the AGM via the Translux bus service and Shoprite provided catering for the meeting (Shoprite has been a partner since 2012 when they sponsored the Shoprite Soup Trucks for the Epilepsy SA Mobile Neurology Clinics).

Epilepsy South Africa extends its sincere gratitude to these providers showing a mutual concern for and pro-active approach to community development in the Eastern Cape. Companies or individuals interested in supporting Epilepsy South Africa Eastern Cape can contact Mthobisi Madlala at 078 588 8343 or development.ec@epilepsy.org.za.

Partnering with Child Welfare

The Epilepsy South Africa mobile service point has been working together with Child Welfare since February 2012. A formal agreement was signed by both parties on the 14th of February 2013. This service transfer agreement will see the expansion of the current youth and educational projects in the Eastern Cape Province.

Mobile service point

Services in the Eastern Cape was established during 2011 with the development of a Satelite Office of the National Office.

Mthobisi Madlala took up employment in January 2012 and focused on establishing our network in the Eastern Cape with both the public sector and civil society. In addition, service delivery was developed  and implement in the three target areas (East London, Port Elizabeth and Mthatha) accompanied by marketing and awareness raising.

We look forward to formalising our service point in the Eastern Cape through the establishment of a branch during the 2012/2013 financial year.
